《库布里克谈话录》

1. 电影不是文学的附庸

库布里克反对“电影=讲故事的小说影像化”，认为：
真正的电影语言是视觉、节奏、空间与潜意识的组合，而不是对白和情节。
“I think the best films are essentially non-verbal experiences. They bypass reason and strike directly at the emotions and the subconscious.”
“If it can be written or thought, it can be filmed.”
But the real power of film is in what cannot be easily put into words.”

2. 人类唯一真正稳定的特质，就是自我毁灭的能力。

“Man is the only creature who refuses to be what he is.”
“The very meaninglessness of life forces man to create his own meaning. But like any other animal, man is controlled by his biological imperatives.”

库布里克基本不相信：
人类会进步，技术会带来道德提升，教育能改变本性。

3. 库布里克相信：

「环境塑造人格」
“People are not born good or bad; they are shaped by circumstances.”
「制度塑造行为」
“When a man cannot choose, he ceases to be a man.”
“The essence of power is the ability to define reality for others.”
「欲望远比理性强大」
“Civilization is a thin veneer over a very primitive nature.”
