极限压缩信息，最近看东西被反复提及的。
1.黄仁宇在《中国大历史》中说，在1960年代，我就觉得我们应当广泛的利用归纳法将现有的史料高度的压缩，先构成一个简明而前后连贯的纲领，和西欧史与美国史有了互相比较的幅度与层次，才谈得上进一步的研究。
2.Sparkline 和 Small multiple。数据可视化大师 Edward Tufte 有 2 个很高明的处理数据的思想一直让我难忘。Small multiple：在一对轴上显示多个系列的图表，一个接一个地排列出大量类似的图像，以便于比较；Sparkline：鼓励对视觉信息进行极端压缩，Sparkline 应该与周围的文字高度相同；

经常看到他叙说的一段话，他追求的 seeing system。 Interface matters to me more than anything else, and it always has. I just never realized that. I've spent a lot of time over the years desperately trying to think of a "thing" to change the world. I now know why the search was fruitless -- things don't change the world. People change the world by using things. The focus must be on the "using", not the "thing". Now that I'm looking through the right end of the binoculars, I can see a lot more clearly, and there are projects and possibilities that genuinely interest me deeply.
