15k LSD.
Did this for the badge. It’s a 4pt badge on Garmin connect. I would kill for it.
Jk. But it was high ROI. So I did it.
That places my weekly mileage at 30+, a number I have not seen in a while.
I’ve been stressed out about my mileage this week. What a weird experience towards the end of the year.
But the weather is nice today. Sunny, 10C, windy but really not much to complain about. Just makes it chilly enough to run in a merino wool long-sleeve base layer. Light gloves from tracksmith. Lulu leggings, with pockets. I’ve noticed that I need to pay extra attention when ordering Lulu leggings since so many of them don’t come with pockets, and those end up being ineligible for my long runs.
Prospect park is crowded. Power walkers, cyclists, runners, and pedestrians alike.
A few folks rode so slowly on their Citi bikes, for a few seconds I thought they were stalking me.
But the landscape was beautiful. Not much better you can ask for on a winter day.
And I ran a brisk pace. I did a 3-1 run-walk, and it was hard to keep my running pace any slower than 10. Yet my heart rate was not going towards 170. That’s rare. Maybe my watch reading is off, or maybe my aerobic fitness has indeed increased. I like the sound of the latter.
Oh, and I forgot to bring any gels with me. So no fuel for a 15k run. First occurrence. I felt fine. The water fountains in prospect park were still running. Lucky.
I know I’m a bit short on anaerobic load lately. That’s fine. Winter is my excuse.
Just one more 4miler to go tomorrow to close the year and earn the Q4 running badge. 300km for Q4.
I was sick a lot this year. But it’s been an honor, 2024.
I’ll see you again at the end of my life.
